Chapter 7

CARTER

I walk into Harley’s yoga studio with a hard-on after watching her teach a class for the last ten minutes through the front window. Several of the poses gave me some very naughty ideas I want to try out some time with her. Being as flexible as Harley is will definitely come in handy.

One of her students lingers back to talk to her while the rest grab their bags and water bottles and leave through the front door. Ordinarily, I’d stand off to the side and let her do her thing until everyone was gone, but not this time. Not when the person standing too fucking close to her is a guy. Especially Chase Montgomery. I went to school with this asshole. He was one of the biggest players in our grade, and if I go by the way he’s blatantly staring down the top of Harley’s tank top, I’d say he hasn’t changed.

With my hard-on now gone due to the aggravation now coursing through my veins, I walk over to Harley, wrap an arm around her waist to pull her to my side, and plant a kiss so hot there’s no way Chase will mistake it for anything other than what it is. Asserting my claim on the woman next to me.

Harley makes it better by smiling dreamily up at me when I lift my head. “Hi,” she says a little breathlessly.

“Hey.” I give her a sexy grin.

I move my eyes to Chase, satisfied to see the recognizable look of him getting the picture.

“Chase.” I say his name with as much cordiality as I can muster. “It’s been a while.” I don’t offer my hand.

“I heard you were back in town.”

“Yep.”

He gives me a tight smile. “It’s good to see you.” When I don’t return the sentiment, he returns his gaze to Harley. “It was a good session today. I’ll see you next week.”

“See you then, Chase,” Harley says.

As soon as he walks away, I spin Harley around and pull her into my arms. I can see the set down she wants to give me from my rude behavior toward that dipshit, but I don’t give her the chance before I’m dropping my head and stealing another kiss from her.

Unfortunately, it only lasts a few seconds before I feel a sharp pinch on my side. I grimace and pull away.

“That was not nice,” she says.

“No.” I keep one arm around her and use the other to rub the sore spot over my ribs. “What’s not nice is you abusing me.”

Her lips purse, but I can tell she’s not really mad because her eyes are smiling. “You deserved it. You were rude to Chase.”

“I was.” There’s no sense in denying it. “I didn’t like the way he was looking at you.”

“And how was he looking at me?”

“Like he wanted to peel off those tight-as-fuck leggings and feast on every inch of skin he exposes.”

She scoffs, rolling her eyes. “And how in the hell do you know that?”

When she tries to pull away from me, I haul her back against my chest.
